Well, the year has started out with a bang. We’ve had our Double National, the Rolex 24, and we’re coming up to our February Regional with the Swedish Camaro Cup – followed shortly by the 60th running of the 12 Hours of Sebring and the St Pete Grand Prix.
Let’s start with the Double National (and the BF Goodrich Super Tour). What a job all of our members did on this – from the planning stages right on thru to the end. Everyone (Event Chair, Registration, Race Board, Tech, F&C, Paddock, T&S, …) went above and beyond to make this a stellar event. Thanks to all of you – our members are nothing but the best!!
Then – on to the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona. What a week!!!! In addition to our own members, we had workers show up to support us from all over the country (and a few from the far reaches of the world). I personally think that this was one of the smoothest 24’s in a long time. There were some hiccups (some caused by it the record crowd of spectators), but once again CFR showed why we’re the best in the business.
Now we are getting ready for out Sebring Regional – the first of the year for our regional drivers. This year brings the new requirement for an approved Head and Neck Restraint system – I know it adds some additional expense, and some additional time getting everything belted up, but it just might save your life. Oh yeah – and we have our Swedish guests with the Camaro Cup Pro series. That should be fun to watch!!!
As I said at the Annual Meeting, I’m going to try to stay on top of this RE Report thing. I didn’t do real well in English Composition or essay writing in school – so it’s a bit of a struggle. At any rate, I’m always available to talk to. Flag me down at the track, or send me an email and I will respond.
In closing – Central Florida Region is and has the best of the best. I’m proud to be a part of this region.
